Sharon Ziegenhagen is an award winning artist who specializes in horses, wildlife, and purebred dogs.  Her work has been selected for numerous shows including The Wichita Art Show at the Dog Show, The Contemporary Canine exhibition at the AKC Museum Of The Dog in St. Louis, Missouri and the Harness Tracks of America auction in Lexington, Kentucky.  She is a member of the National Wood Carvers Association, the Montana Woodcarvers Association, and the National Dog Museum Artists' Registry.

The artist has won numerous awards including "Best of Show-Sculpture/Other Media" at the 1993 and 1994 Trails West Art Show in Vancouver, Washington; a "Best of Section", the "People's Choice" and the "Competitor's Choice" award at the 1997 annual Idaho Woodcarver Guild's show in Boise, Idaho; and the "Best of Show" at the 1997 Montana State carving show in Missoula, Montana. After 20 years of wood carving, Sharon recently started sculpting purebred dogs in clay for casting in bronze.  Bronze sculpture awards include an "Honorable Mention" at the 1999 New York Dog Fanciers Club 12th American Dog Art Competition and a "Best of Hound" and a Blue Ribbon at the 2000 Spokane, Washington "Dog In Art" show.

A lifelong dog lover, the artist studies each AKC breed standard before beginning a sculpture.  While paying close attention to the standard, the artist's goal is to create a sculpture that reflects the beauty and dignity of every dog.
